STAFF at Tavistock Specsavers donned their daftest fancy dress to raise money during Armed Forces Week.

To show support Specsavers hosted a day of fancy dress fun which raised £161 for Blind Veterans UK (BVUK).

Staff at the store wore Hawaiian get-ups, including some crazy summer sunglasses, while taking collections. The store also donated £1 from every eye test to the charity.

The activity followed Specsavers involvement in last years ‘Make a Spectacle of Yourself’ campaign, which raised £20,000 for ex-service men and women who had been blinded in action or had lost their sight through accident, illness or old age.

Sarah Routly, store director at Specsavers in Tavistock, said: ‘Blind Veterans UK provides crucial support to those who have either lost or had their sight damaged while representing our country in the armed forces. The charity works tirelessly to give its members their independence back and helps them discover a life beyond sight loss.

‘Armed Forces’ Week presented a brilliant chance to have a bit of fun and show our silly sides whilst also digging deep for this fantastic organisation that makes a difference to some very deserving people.’
