AN INITIATIVE for play equipment in Simmons Park, Okehampton is still on track following a meeting of the town council's parks committee.
The plan for facilities for the disabled, including a Wicksteed swing, public seat, adult play fitness equipment plus a willow sculpture in Pig Meadow, is being considered by the town council and Okehampton Community and Recreation Association.
Devon County Council has already earmarked £35,000 towards the project, under its Play Builder Scheme.
Town council parks committee members heard that clerk Don Bent is waiting to hear from Stuart Lord from OCRA, who is consulting with the public and children over the scheme, before they approach the county council with definite plans for funding.
