Okehampton A 3
Bridgwater C 1
ON a cold day Okehampton played visitors Bridgwater C in the final league game of the year, a game that was to be a closer fought match than Okehampton had first anticipated. Okehampton started strong with great attacks but weren't able to capitalize; this was then turned around by Bridgwater who opened up the scoring from a short corner. The Okehampton defence of Scott Bending, Tim Morgan, Ed Howard and Hayden Bond kept the attacks back and at half time Okehampton were 1-0 down.
After the break Okehampton came back very strongly and were rewarded with a penalty flick converted by Alex Emuss. Okehampton maintained pressure on the Bridgwater defence with great team work from the Okehampton midfield, Lewis Day, Sam Whalley, Alex Emuss, Simon Bourne, Pete Hutchings and Stuart Jarvis. Okehampton's efforts were soon rewarded as a result of a good ball from Lewis Day to Sam Whalley who hit the ball into the top corner.
Okehampton continued to assert their authority, piling on pressure on the Bridgwater defence and a quick attack from Jake Lloyd led to Dan Rademaker slotting the ball into the goal for Okehampton to go 3-1 up. Keeper Pete Sim was forced to make a number of saves to ensure Okehampton held on to their lead. The game ended with Okehampton winning 3-1 which leaves Okehampton in third position in the league going into the Christmas break with still good possibility of promotion from the league. Okehampton would like to thank the London Inn of Okehampton for their continued support.
Man of the match: Sam Whalley
