A SUPPORT group for people in the area with Parkinson's Disease is the latest organisation to benefit from Waitrose's Community Matters scheme.

The Parkinson's Group Okehampton is a group for people with Parkinson's and their carers. It offers support, advice, friendship, social and other activities to people affected by the illness. Members meet once a month, and take outings.

The group's chair Geoff Brokenbrow and treasurer Val Dodsworth visited Waitrose to receive a cheque for £543 for the group.

Mr Brokenbrow said: 'We would like to say a huge thank you to Waitrose and their customers for their kind support of our group. The money will be a great help toward runnings costs and activities.'
