children in Shebbear College kindergarten were recently treated to a leather craft workshop run by Mrs Middleton, a leather crafter.

They learned about the different types of leather, what it is and where it comes from.

Making a native American 'strike-a-lite pouch' the children used a variety of leather work techniques, including fringing, lacing, embossing, beading, painting on leather and putting on brass buttons.

After donning war paint they went on a hunt for wild flowers. Identifying the flowers using a variety of books they were able to taste the only edible flower found, sorrel.
