A THEATRE group in Okehampton for adults with a learning disability has attracted a funding award from Lloyds TSB for the next two years.
The grant for Get Changed, totalling £12,000, will be used to cover some of the general running costs for the organisation such as salaries, venue hire and weekly workshop session costs for the participants. The not for profit organisation relies on grants and fundraising to meet a 50% shortfall after participant subscriptions, allowing the group to run its annual programme of work.
The funding comes from the Lloyds TSB Foundation Community programme.
The scheme focuses on funding core work that helps disadvantaged people to play a fuller role in the community.
Christine Munkenbeck, chairman and trustee for Get Changed, said: 'It is fantastic news, especially considering the funding supports us for two years. It helps to give us the ability to plan forward, and look ahead to the future.
'This is the third time Lloyds TSB have supported Get Changed with funding, and we are incredibly grateful for that.
'They have been so helpful, sending out a representative to talk to us about the funding we need and go through our application with us.
'It is vital for Get Changed to raise money to meet our shortfall, and over the years, they have helped us keep going.'
