THE team at Chagford Dental Practice are really getting their teeth into a mammoth fundraising event by participating in the Three Peaks Mountain Challenge on May 18 and May 19 for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

The challenge involves climbing the tallest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland — Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon — within a 24-hour period.

It is a notoriously difficult challenge, but the team are keen and have committed to a rigorous training regime, walking on Dartmoor and doing core exercises and cardiovascular training to get fit. To ensure their safe passage up the peaks, they will be accompanied by a professional mountain guide.

The team consists of dentist Simon Channing, hygienist Jackie Hammans, dental nurses Zoe Francis and Tam Radford, receptionist Sandra Hill and former colleague Sam Hill.

Simon Channing said: 'We are hoping to raise a significant amount for Devon Air Ambulance. They do such a fabulous job for us here in Devon. At the same time we want to enjoy ourselves and gain a personal achievement.

'We are all training hard, and we know it will be tough, especially the lack of sleep as we will only be able to catnap in the minibus on the journey between mountains, but we are all committed to completing the vent within the time frame.'

All team members are paying their own expenses and are asking for sponsorship from as many people as possible. To sponsor them please call into the practice and make a donation into the Devon Air Ambulance bucket, go to http://www.justgiving.com/chagforddentalpractice">www.justgiving.com/chagforddentalpractice to donate online or text CDPM57 to 70070 with the amount you would like to donate.
