A SPONSORED walk and cycle raising money for charity has been hailed a 'tremendous success' with an estimated final total of £2,000.

The South Western Ambulance Service Foundation Trust held a ride and walk from Okehampton to Bridestowe along the Granite Way to raise money for the cancer charity FORCE and the Devon Ambulance Staff Benevolent Fund.

Around 50 people took part and Okehampton's army cadets acted as marshalls for the event.

Claire Morgan, one of the organisers, said: 'We would especially like to thank Okehampton Army Cadets for all their hard work assisting us and for the use of their headquarters.

'Special thanks also goes to Louise of Boots in Okehampton, Okehampton YHA and bike centre for all of their fantastic support.'
