ALL Saints Parish Church, Okehampton, will be hosting a free concert featuring two choirs, a young singer of international repute and a local concert pianist, to raise money for church funds on this Saturday.

All Saints Parish Choir has teamed up with the North Creedy Choral Society, from the Crediton area, to present a performance of the ever-popular Vivaldi Gloria as well as solo items and seasonal music.

Tim Matthews, musical director and organiser of the concert said: 'The choirs have been practicing really hard for this concert and we hope that local people will come along and support us.'

Devon's talented Catherine White, currently singing with the Welsh National Opera while completing a course at the Royal Welsh Academy of Music and Drama, will be returning to All Saints by popular demand.

'Catherine is destined for a big career and many people believe she is the next Katherine Jenkins.

'To be able to secure Catherine to sing with us again is great news and this is a free concert so everyone can attend.'

A small orchestra from the University of Exeter will be supported on keyboard by Russian virtuoso pianist Polina Shifrina.

Polina studied at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich and is in demand as a performer and teacher.

Tim said: 'It's a varied concert with something for everyone, and there are some lovely seasonal touches too.

'Refreshments will be available and every donation is welcome.'

The concert will take place at the church at 6.30pm.
