THE streets will again be filled with fun for all when Okehampton Carnival comes to town this weekend.
Residents and visitors will be kept entertained with processions running throughout the day.
A coffee morning will start the fun packed day, which will be held in the Charter Hall from 9.30am to noon.
It will be followed by the judging of the children's fancy dress competition, which will also be held in the Charter Hall at 1.15pm.
Following the morning's activities will be the crowning of the Prince and Princess — Jacob and Hannah Friend — by the town mayor, Cllr David Weekes. The crowning will take place at 3.05pm at School Way.
The town centre will be closed from 3pm until 3.45pm for the children's procession, which will leave School Way at 3.15pm and proceed through the town.
In the evening visitors can enjoy the Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band, who will perform in Fore Street at 6.45pm, followed by a massed band procession through Fore Street.
The crowning of the carnival queen, Cerys Ann Morgan, will take place at 7.05pm by Cllr Weekes, outside the Masonic Lodge in Mill Road.
The procession will leave Mill Road at 7.15pm and proceed down George Street and on to Fore Street.
It will then move into East Street, Crediton Road and Limehayes Road, and then onto Exeter Road, East Street and Fore Street, before finally ending in George Street.
This year funds will be donated to the local Scouts, to help decorate their new hut. The money will also go towards the Ronald McDonald Room in Bristol for the families of local children having treatment at the Bristol Hospital.
