FOLLOWING the success of the Okehampton community musical Carnival Capers, which played to packed houses in April, there has been much demand from West Devon residents to continue to create songs, music and theatre.
Okehampton-based folk and community arts charity Wren Music, which was responsible for organising the musical, is now launching a regular weekly workshop group for all who would like to make music and songs.
Okehampton Song Tales will meet on Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm, at the Baptist Church in Fore Street, Okehampton, with the first session on Tuesday October 7.
The workshops will be led by Wren's music director Paul Wilson. The group will be open to people of all ages, and all voices and instruments will be welcome. No prior experience of singing is necessary, and there will be no need to read music.
Workshop fees are £60 (£45 concessions) per 10-week term, or £7.50 (£5.50 concessions) per session. Special family rates are also available. Concessions are available for under eighteens, full time students, and people receiving income-related benefit. Payment by instalments can be arranged for concessionary termly fees on request.
