LOWER the drawbridge — three local mothers will visit three castles as part of a fundraiser in October.

Mel Ford from Bridestowe, Jill Jolley from Okehampton and Sarah Haigh from Boasley Cross are taking on the Three Castle Walk, trekking 30 miles from Launceston Castle to Lydford Castle and Okehampton Castle on October 5.

The ladies are taking on the challenge to raise funds for a minibus for Bridestowe's Treetops Pre-School.

As well as the walk, youngsters at Treetops will take part in a castle project. Local businesses will be approached to see if they will sponsor the walk in exchange for having their company name written on the side of the minibus as an advertisement for their business. The trio are hoping to raise £1,000 from the challenge.
