TWO fire crews attended reports of a car on fire in a layby on the A30 at Whiddon Down on Sunday evening at around 11pm. Crews confirmed that the car was well alight and got to work extinguishing the blaze using two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet. The cause of the fire was accidental due to an electrical fault. The Highways agency was requested due to fire damage to the roadway.
