STAFF at Okeford Veterinary Centre were beaming with pride last week, as they presented a cheque for for £1,000 to Dartmoor View Dog Rescue.
The Okehampton practice organised a dog show and coffee morning to raise funds for the rescue, which was set up in December 2012.
Despite a rainy start to proceedings, judge Brenda Randle was kept busy as all the classes were filled and the refreshments tent and tombola were well supported.
In June, assistant practice manager Sarah Bevan celebrated 30 years of working at Okeford Vets with a charity coffee morning.
Kristin Phippard from the vets said: 'The staff are so thrilled to have raised so much money, and we would like to thank everyone who supported each event.'
Dartmoor View Dog Rescue puts unwanted and abandoned dogs with foster families until loving homes can be found. The band of volunteers running DVDR are committed to saving and re-homing all breeds of dog, and have a strict non-destruct policy unless advised by a vet.
They have now found loving, stable homes for almost 80 dogs since the rescue's inception. The organisation is run by volunteers who work tirelessly to foster the dogs and find them new homes.
