IN response to the letter by Pay Dayman in the Times on November 21 with regard to the War Memorial being relocated in Simmons Park.

Our war memorial is where it belongs in exactly the right place for families and friends of the fallen to remember their loved ones in the peace and quiet of the grounds of All Saints Church.

Next year marks the anniversary of the First World War; sadly it was not to be the war to end all wars.

Many organisations every year join our Armed Forces and parade up the hill to honour the names read at the War Memorial, lay a poppy wreath and then join the Royal British Legion at the Service of Remembrance in All Saints Church.

When it becomes too difficult to walk they ride up to the church to pay their respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The cost of a taxi once a year is a small price to pay to remember those whose price for us was paid with their lives.

Lest we forget.
