SPORTSWOMAN and transplant patient Wendy Sincock from Spreyton has won three gold medals and two silver medals at the 2009 British Transplant Games earlier this month.
Wendy, 50, won the three gold medals in backstroke, discus and canoeing and two silver medals in the freestyle 50m and 100m.
The games were held in Coventry, where around 1,500 visitors flocked to give their support to the 900 transplant athletes, aged from two to 82, who celebrated the Gift of Life at the 2009 games.
In less than two weeks' time, selected British games medal winners will be heading to Australia as Team UK, to take part in the World Transplant Games.
Member of Transport Sport UK, Lynne Holt said: 'None of the transport athletes would be here today without a life-saving transplant operation and their determination and zest for life is a true inspiration to us all.
'The Transplant Games gives transplant athletes a chance to celebrate their second chance and thank the organ donors and their families.
'Surely there is no better proof of the power of the gift of life, which is why the games must continue, reaching more people every year.'
Last year Wendy suffered several heart attacks, but has battled to overcome health problems. She is also a member of the Exeter District Transport Team.
