IT was the youth that started the brighter and raced into a two goal lead inside the first ten minutes, capitalising on the veteran's lack of organisation in their first game together.
After five minutes there was hesitancy in the penalty area after an attack down the right and the veterans failure to clear allowed Tom Stanbury to finish at the far post. They doubled the lead a couple of minutes later when Tom crossed to the back post where his brother Josh, who finished with a right foot strike, giving keeper Clift no chance.
The veterans slowly got back into the game with Danny Maddix controlling the centre of the park which led to vets pulling one back when Maddix played an exquisite ball in for Chris Drew to finish with aplomb.
It wasn't long before the scores were level when Paddy Blatchford was the beneficiary of a Maddix through ball to round the keeper and slot into the empty net.
The youth side started the second half brightly, continuing to play some enterprising football they had a strong shout for a penalty turned down. Chris Drew for the vets got clear and was about to pull the trigger but Ryan Gross put in a fine last ditch tackle to clear and Paddy Blatchford had the ball in the net but this was disallowed for an earlier foul.
The old boys looked to have won the game ten minutes from time, when Ian Wilson met a corner at the far post and despite Ryan Gross' efforts the ball finished in the back of the net.
The boys never gave up and they got there reward in the very last minute when Ollie Crimmins wriggled free inside the box and smashed the ball home for a deserved equaliser.
