Carlsberg South West Peninsula division one East Okehampton Argyle 2 Crediton United 1 OKEHAMPTON continued their recent run of fine form with this hard fought 2-1 win against local rivals Crediton United at Simmons Park. They were indebted to young Aaron Dearing, who produced a match winning display in goal on his return to action following a recent illness. Crediton started brightly and Dearing had already pulled off a couple of fine saves when, totally against the run of play, Jason Cordice, himself returning from injury, latched onto Chris Holland's through ball to fire Argyle into a 10th minute lead. In truth, Crediton continued to have the lion's share of possession but Argyle were always dangerous on the break and they increased their lead on the half hour mark, when Oli Crimmins had a shot parried by the Crediton keeper but was quickest to the loose ball and crossed low for Steve Kinsey to finish from close range. Okehampton had been second best for most of the first half but had taken their chances on the counter attack to lead 2-0 at the break. Crediton started the second half as they had the first and almost pulled a goal back on the hour when Kenny Ord's deft flick was well saved by Aaron Dearing and ten minutes later Dearing pulled off an even better save when he got a hand to Ord's goal bound header. Argyle were defending resolutely and still creating chances of their own on the break with Adam Mortimer, Roger Bonaparte and Tallan Burns all going close; however, they gave Crediton a life line with minutes remaining when substitute Matt Mortimer was needlessly sent off and almost immediately Richard Blake pulled a goal back for the visitors. For the second week in succession Argyle had to dig deep as Crediton threw everything forward in search of an equaliser, but they once again stood firm to claim another well-earned 3pts.
