Carlsberg South West Peninsula division One East
Okehampton Argyle 5
Crediton United 0
THE local derby against Crediton failed to attract its usual sizeable crowd on Saturday as Argyle entertained their struggling neighbours.
The first half was dominated by Argyle but playing up the slope they failed to find much rhythm and their finishing was woeful.
However, two minutes after the interval, their nerves were settled when Ed Squire's fine 25 yard strike beat James Satchell in the visitor's goal.
Okehampton continued to improve and within four minutes had killed the game off with a 50th minute strike from Brad Ausden followed by another by Luke Alden barely 60 seconds later.
It was all one way traffic now and on 70 minutes, Brad Ausden fired home a brilliant 25 yard volley before with five minutes left, Luke Alden dribbled past three defenders before finding the net from an acute angle.
This was another good team performance from Argyle but man of the match goes to Brad Ausden who was a constant thorn in Crediton's side.
n This Saturday in the league Argyle are away to Sidmouth Town, away 3pm.
Stoke Gabriel 4
Okehampton Argyle 3
IN windy conditions Argyle put in a brave performance against second placed Stoke last week, but eventually were edged out of the points.
Stoke took the lead early on when Olly Critchlow placed the ball into the back of the net from close range after a Dan Harmer pass from wide on the left. Critchlow almost doubled his tally a few minutes later when he lobbed Argyle keeper Harry Geering only to see the ball sail inches wide of the post.
However, Okehampton fought their way back and Brad Ausden, John Wiseman and Luke Alden constantly put together moves that troubled the Stoke defence.
Two minutes before half time, Argyle were disappointed to see the home side increase their lead when Jamie Mills scored from a tight angle from a Mark Newbould corner. Back bounced Argyle and in injury time before the break, Ausden and Alden combined on the left and John Wiseman's volley from the corner of the six yard box squeezed past keeper Adam Simpson into the corner of the net.
Argyle began the second half with real purpose and scored twice in the first five minutes. Alex Wren's perfectly flighted free kick had Simpson in all sorts of trouble in the strong wind and Dale Chadwick touched the ball home from close in. Seconds later another fine attack down the right saw Ed Squire pick up the loose ball and crash it into the roof of the net from ten yards.
Stoke Gabriel scored the equaliser when Olly Critchlow's cross found Tim Porter in the box whose shot rolled into the bottom corner.
Stoke Gabriel scored the winner 14 minutes from the end when Tim Porter headed on Olly Critchlow's cross for Ellis Laight to head into the back of the Argyle net.
Argyle fought hard to get back and were unlucky not to score a deserved equaliser went in the last minute Dale Chadwick's header was cleared off the line.
Alex Wren was outstanding at the back for Argyle and Brad Ausden, Luke Alden and John Wiseman had excellent games.
