THE new season is about to start at Hatherleigh Cricket Club and members are all looking forward to a nice dry summer and another successful season.

The club will be fielding two teams in the Devon League on Saturdays with the newly promoted first XI looking forward to having the opportunity to play at a higher level this year.

The club will also be fielding two teams in the North Devon League on Sundays, for the first time in several years and this will give an opportunity for more players to take part at a competitive level. 

The club will continue to host touring sides during the mid-week as well as entering a team in the Buckley Cup which is a local league cup and is a great opportunity for young players to experience senior cricket in a T20 competition. 

The ladies' team will be playing in the Devon Ladies League as well as entering the ladies T20 league again this year. 

Playing and coaching opportunities are available for both boys and girls from ages seven to 16 years and the club is holding a registration night tomorrow (Friday) starting at 7pm for parents to come along and register their children (membership for the year is £10 for young players).

Hatherleigh say they are a very friendly club and new players are always welcome.  With extra matches this year there will be more opportunities for a wider range of players of all ages and abilities to play at a competitive (or just for fun) level.
