FOLLOWING on from the successful summer Cyclo Cross competition, another was held at Tuell Farm, near Milton Abbot.

Teams from Whitchurch, Horrabridge, St Andrew’s, St Peter’s, Tavistock, Lamerton and Mary Tavy and Brentor Primary Schools took part on a beautiful, mild November day.

The time trials came first with the riders being divided into different speed categories for the eight races which were to follow.

The individual winners of these time trials were: Boys: 1, Tom Brown; 2, Ewan Dix; 3, Ollie Edwards. Girls: 1, Poppy Lakeman; 2, Lia Lewis; 3, Olivia Wilson.

The races had one pupil from each team taking part. Points were awarded from one for first place to nine for ninth place.

After the eight races were completed Whitchurch emerged as the clear winners with 18 points; Horrabridge A were second with 23 pts.

Other scores: St Andrew’s 33pts; Horrabridge B 38pts; St Peter’s A 40pts; Tavistock 44pts; St Peter’s B 49pts; Lamerton 56pts and Mary Tavy and Brentor 59pts.

Mhairi McCall from event organiser OCRA thanked Justin Knox of British Cycling, who ran the competition, Geoff Whitlow and his assistants from Tavistock Wheelers, who made sure the bikes and helmets fitted properly and to James and Giselle Hulme-Teague, who hosted the event.
