SOUTH Zeal went into this match looking for another good result to keep up their excellent run of form and the pressure on the teams around them in the league table.
The game started in a frenetic fashion, with both teams eager to dominate and control early possession.
Scott Tremain and Redd Cann for South Zeal worked hard in the centre of the park in the early stages. This will to dominate soon paid off fruitfully, when the ever prolific poacher Harley Cann scored, putting the home side deservedly into the lead after 10 minutes.
The width South Zeal employed had Elmore stretched, with Sam Jones and Harry Smith making decisive incisions down the flanks. Harley Cann soon swooped on to a low cross to score his second goal and put the game firmly in the home side's control. Playing down the slope clearly suits Zeal and Adam Clark showed a good turn of pace to sprint through and put Zeal 3-0 up after 25 minutes.
Captain Cann, leading the team in typically tenacious manner, completed a super first half hat-trick after 30 minutes.
Elmore did manage some pressure after the fourth goal, but the ever imposing and unbreakable partnership of Lee Gilbert and Ben Davey in defence coped easily with the threat. South Zeal put the game to bed before the half time whistle with Harley Cann scoring his fourth and his team's fifth. Cann struck his fifth goal moments before the half time whistle, as South Zeal came off at the interval 6-0 up.
Two minutes into the second half Cann struck in for his sixth. South Zeal's Adam Woolnough and Harry Smith flew down the opposition flanks, drawing in the defenders, creating room for Cann to net his seventh, earning him a substitution, with a welcome return from injury for Ryan Dennis.
Sammy Jones soon jumped on the goal scoring merry-go-round, finished in a fashion befitting someone way beyond his tender years.
Matty Dennis and Mark Williams now came into the fray, upping the energy levels, which led to Adam Clark smashing in the tenth goal in top marksman style. With the game now over with regards a contest, Zeal played some stylish and accomplished football, dominating possession with aplomb. A late penalty brought about Adam Clark's hat-trick for number 11 and a red card for the Elmore keeper.
