Okehampton U16s 36
Crediton U16s 0
ON a sticky pitch and considering the conditions both sides played some good open rugby but once again it was the Oke forwards who mastered the conditions.
It was Okehampton's Heard who started the scoring, bursting through the defence to score a good individual try.
Ryan Lee, Ponsford and Toms made some excellent runs from deep and put in several cracking tackles.
Crediton had several passages of play but Oke denied them with some spirited defending. Williams at number eight for Oke had another strong game with some picking and driving running through the defence to make ground.
After half-time Okehampton brought on Bickley who made an immediate impact receiving the ball on the halfway line to make a snaking run to score under the posts.
Nash instigated the next try with a steal in the ruck to pass to Pillivant who offloaded to Williams to score.
As Okehampton's fitness began to show Toms had another strong run down the line who offloaded in a tackle to Pillivant who was then brought down just short of the line for Nash to pick the ball up and drive over to touch down.
Crediton had their chances in the second half but some determined tackling by the back line, especially by Kieran Lee, denied them any chance to score.
Crediton conceded a penalty for an infringement which Simmons planted between the posts.
The final try came from a phase played by the forwards ending in Craddock going over. Simmons was on form with his kicking converting four tries and a penalty.
Both sides played a competitive game in the conditions.
