OKEHAMPTON Golf Club hosted a Four Ball Better Ball Open Competition on July 14.
A large field entered the competition which was made up with a good contingent of different golf clubs. The overall winners with a superb score of 46 points were Paul Skidmore and Richard Reid from Okehampton.
Second overall were Evan Rees and Ian Moore also from Okehampton with 44 points and third overall were Rich Mallabrone and Mike MacManus with 42 points, from Portmore.
The prize for first visitor went to G & C Passmore from Torquay with 40 points on the back nine from, in second K Lacey and G Simms from Windwhistle GC. Best combination was awarded to Rupert and Adrian Tilley from Portmore and Okehampton with 40 points. Winners of the best home went to Terry Steer and Pete Kiss with 41 points.
On Wednesday, July 11 a good turnout of ladies cheered as the lady captain Lin Atkinson drove off at the start of her captain's day.
An individual stableford competition followed and there were lots of team and hidden prizes. The winner of the silver division was Abby Turner and the winner of the bronze division was Doris Jewell. The winning team was Abby Turner, Sue Williams and Sylvie Gowers. The ladies enjoyed a wonderful buffet lunch which included gifts for all from the lady captain. This was followed by the prize giving.
