Friendly Belstone v C and G All-Stars XI BELSTONE's final game of the season was the traditional 35-over friendly against an All Star XI of past players and invited guests put together by Chris Walsh of C and G Plastering. Played under cloudless blue skies Belstone lost both openers with only 19 on the board as the All Stars lead bowlers Fraser Willis (5-1-16-0) and Jake Barber (5-1-14-2) both found movement in the air and off the pitch. Brothers Matt (four fours and a six in 37) and Ryan Dennis then gained the upper hand with a third wicket partnership of 97 in 13 overs, with Ryan passing 50 for the second time this season and eventually reaching a career-best 61 before becoming one of Rob Sandercock's three wickets. A late flurry of runs from Dan Fogerty (20 not out) and Chris Walpole (22) took Belstone to a competitive 184 for eight at the close. Pick of the All-Stars fielders was keeper Stuart Lord with one catch and three stumpings. Phil Dennis began the Belstone attack with a miserly spell which conceded just three runs from five overs which left the All-Stars well behind the asking rate. Neil Rowlands (24) and Nick Cowley (21) tried to build the reply but both were out to well-flighted deliveries from Tom Pearce (3-1-11-3). Scott Tremain, turning his arm for the first time this season, bowled a tidy spell of seven overs for 18 runs, but after Lord briefly threatened with 22, it was left to Duggie Little to wrap up the innings with three wickets in 14 balls to give Belstone a 72-run win.
