ON Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club a four ball better ball Stableford for the Barnes Cup was held.
Division one was won by Jay Carroll and Alan Grimshaw with 46 points; Rod Milsom-Smith and Lewis Parry were second with 45pts and in third place were Mark Wonnacott and Martin O’Connor with 44pts.
The winners of division two and the Barnes Cup were Steve Pike and Tim Butler with 47pts. Paul Rogers and Russell Bowden were second with 46pts followed into third place by Brian May and Steve Browne with 44pts.
On Sunday, in great conditions, the club’s four ball better ball Spring mixed open took place and the overall winners with 45 points were Bob and Marcia Collett from Okehampton. Second overall with 44pts were David and Mary Keir with 44pts, also from Okehampton. The best combination prize went to Dennis Edwards (Oke-hampton) and Liz Wood (Honiton) with 43pts and the best visitor prize was won by Jimmy Larkin and Wendy Roberts from Dainton Park with 39pts.
The ladies’ section entered the qualifying round of the Coronation foursomes and the winners with 34 points were Maureen Willcocks and Vida Appleton second place went to Marcia Jones and Abby Turner with 33pts and third place was taken by Sue Williams and Francis Harbron with 32pts.
