ON Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club a Stableford competition was held and the winner of division one with 40 points was Alan Stokes.

He was followed into second place by Evan Rees with 39pts; Norman Heslop was third with 37pts.

Division two was won by Rob Green with 38pts; John Halliday second with 37pts and Pete Okopski was third after countback with 35pts. Eric Pengelly was the winner of division three with 37pts, Perry Vallance took second with 35pts and Steve Latham was third on 34pts.

The ladies’ section also entered a Stableford competition this week and the winner of the silver division was Francis Harbron with 36pts. Cherry James was second with 35pts and Sue Stanbury was third on 32pts. The bronze division was won by lady captain Michelle Widdows with 36pts, Elaine Marwood was second with 33 pts and Sylvie Gowers was placed in third with 32pts.

The first seniors’ Stableford qualifier of the season attracted 32 players and was won by last year’s captain Adrian Tilley with 40pts. Second on 39pts was Richard Goodger, keeping Dennis Edwards on the same score in third place with a better back nine.
