OKEHAMPTON Golf Club held the first of its Senior Open competitions last week and the overall winners with 78 points were Andy Shapland, Jerry Lock and Graham Pengelly (Okehampton).
Second overall were John Haley, Paul Rattenbury and Alan Stokes with 76 points winning on the back nine.
The first visitor prize went to Peter Bradbury, Alan Plaice and Steve Arthur with 76pts (St Austell) while the second visitor prize was won by Richard Stevens, Jeff Maynard and Colin Wayman with 74pts (Fingle/Exeter).
First in the home/combination was won by Clive Yeo, Barry Porter and Dennis Edwards with 74pts and sixth place was taken by Malcolm Hooper, Del Owen and Paul Skidmore with 73pts (Okehampton/Dawlish).
On Saturday a four ball better ball Stableford for the Barnes Cup was held and the winners of division one and the Barnes Cup were Richard McFarlane and Phil Atherton with 46 pts. In second place were Alan Lawson and Paul Ayris with 42pts on the back nine from, in third, Malcolm Hooper and Rob Green.
Division two was won by Rod Milsom-Smith and Rod Jones with 46pts, Dave Grimes and Bryan Evans were second also with 46pts and Bernard Olesqui and Jerry Lock were third with 45pts.
On Sunday a Mixed Open competition was played and the overall winners were David and Sue Stanbury with 43pts after countback placing Barry Porter and Maggie Caws in second.
The first visitor prize was awarded to Brian and Sally Newman (Stover) with 42pts, best home/comb. prize was won by Henry and Francis Harbron with 40pts after countback and in fifth place were Bob and Marcia Collett also with 40pts.
