THE Ladies’ Club Championship competition was held at Okehampton Golf Club on July 28 and 29. Weather conditions were near perfect and the course was in first rate order.

Abby Turner not only won the title of ladies’ club champion with a gross score of 142 but also achieved a gross score of 70 on the first day —breaking the course record for a lady. Marcia Collett was runner up with a gross 166.

The winner of the handicap salver was Frances Harbron with a nett 132 and the runner up was Sue Stanbury with nett 145.

The Vick Bowl for ladies’ 65 years plus was also contested. This was a Stableford competition over 18 holes and was won by Marcia Jones with 36 points.

On Saturday a medal competition for The Brian Adams Salver (lowest gross) and the Bill Webber Bowl (best nett) was played.

The winner of division one and the Bill Webber Bowl was Jerry Lock with a gross 74 nett 64 on the back nine from, in second Rob Camies also with a nett 64. Third place went to Aaron West with nett 65.

Gareth Holt triumphed with a nett score of 69 enabling him to win the Brian Adams Salver.

The second division was won by Pete Okopski with nett 65 and in second was Steve Robinson with nett 69. Chris Walsh was third also on nett 69.

Jonathan Tatman was the winner of division three with nett 65 on the back nine from, in second, John Halliday also with nett 65. Andrew Sinclair was third with nett 67.
