ON Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club in idyllic conditions, a three ball two to count Stableford competition was held for the Ted Brown Trophy.
The winners of division one and the Ted Brown Trophy with 81 points were Paul Skidmore, Richard Reid and Alan Mann. Second place went to Barry Coaker, Mark Wonnacott and Martin O’Connor with 78 pts and in third with 75pts were Martyn Cox, Chris Hurley and Mark Curtis.
Division two was won by Del Owen, Graham Moysey and Rob Reddington with 81pts. Fred Cooke, Graham Pengelly and Ron Uren took second place with 75pts on the back nine from, in third, Steve Browne, Alan Lawson and Adrian Raymond.
On Wednesday the ladies section entered a medal competition for the Margaret Down Trophy (lowest gross) and the Peacock Salvers (lowest nett).
The winner of the Margaret Down Trophy with a gross score of 75 was Abby Turner. The winner of the silver salver with a nett 68 was Cherry James and in second, with nett 71, was Marcia Collett after countback on the back nine from; in third, Sue Williams.
The bronze salver was won by Lorna Evans with nett 70 and Jane Warren was second with nett 73 narrowly beating Janice Thwaites on the back nine, who also attained nett 73.
Doris Jewell also picked up a prestigious award; she has been made the ladies’ honorary president for achieving the title of becoming the oldest full playing member of Okehampton Golf Club.
