THE annual Two Castles Challenge golf competition took place at Okehampton and Launceston Golf Clubs at the weekend. With both courses in superb condition and 260 entrants, all was set for some superb golf generating great results.

The winners of the scratch (36 holes) and retaining their title from last year were Lenny and Scott Pym (Torquay) with 71 points and in second place were E Jenkins and J Cox (Portmore) with 69pts.

The winners of the handicap (36 holes) were Steve Mander and James Stacey (Okehampton) with 90pts followed into second by Chris Walsh and Martyn Cox, also from Okehampton, with 85pts.

The best mixed prize was awarded to A and A Macey (Bramshall) with 78pts on the back 18 from, in second David and Sue Williams (Okehampton), also with 78pts.

The victors of the single sex trophy (36 holes) were P Hoskins and D Chambers (Tehidy) with 84pts after countback from in second S Brailley and J Mutch (Libbaton).

On Wednesday the Okehampton Golf Club ladies’ section entered the Bowmaker qualifier and the winning team was Cherry James, Penny Deakin and Carol Skrzypczak with 76 points closely followed by Marcia Jones, Marcia Collett and Sue Stanbury with 75pts.
