THE inaugural Okehampton area Adult Indoor Cricket League, set up through Active Villages, was won by Hatherleigh  after a hard fought league with six local teams.

There were some very close games with a young  Bridestowe team led by Sam Ewen performing really well and finishing runners up.

Stuart Lord, the Active Villages event organiser, said: 'This is a great way for players from all over the area to warm up before the season starts. There was good atmosphere of friendly rivalry and some outstanding cricket.

'We will be looking to run the league next year and are keen to hear from interested teams on 01837 54546.'

Top score in any game went to Andy Bennett from Hatherleigh with 61 — other members of the winning squad were Andy Collier, Andy Fishleigh, Sean Letherel, Rob Chapman, Rob Cockerill, Will Chapman, Clara Neilson, Charlie Neilson, Gareth Tidball, Ryan Davies, Richard Tidball, Jack Cherrington and Mark Brock.
