OKEHAMPTON Junior Netball League held its end of season tournament following another successful season.
Eight teams entered the league in September involving almost 70 girls.
Lynn Strawbridge, on behalf of the league, told Times Sport: ’Once again we have seen all teams improve greatly over the season. We had a wide range of ability, from the Year 9 Lightning team, who won this year’s league and the experienced Shooting Stars team, who won the tournament, to the two Year 7 teams, Blue Skies and Blue Diamonds, who had to make the adjustment from high five netball to seven netball. All the players came out each week, trying their best and gaining valuable experience over the weeks.’
The umpires’ player of the season was Poppy Benstead from Phoenix; the players’ player to both Raphaelle Tarry of Netball Ninjas and Issy Edworthy of Shooting Stars; the most improved player of the season,Lauren James of Shooting Stars.
The junior league is open to all girls in school Years 7,8 and 9 of all abilities. It is held on Monday evenings in Parklands Leisure centre between October and March. Ideally girls need to enter in a team but if you are an individual looking to play we can often find a team who are looking for players.
