Okehampton firsts 5

OKEHAMPTON men's hockey first team hosted Plymouth Grammar School Old Boys knowing another victory would keep them up with the leading pack. They started evenly and possession was gifted away by both teams far to easily. It took 15 minutes for either side to create a good chance before the hosts took the lead when Luke Miller drew the keeper and slotted the ball to Mark Parsons who had the easiest of finishes.

Sam Whalley and Andrew Paterson looked threatening for Oke and both had chances before the half time whistle went.

The second half saw a much better game with the home side dominating and moving the ball quickly, the visitors just could not contain their attacking play. Andrew Paterson doubled the Oke lead when he pounced on a loose clearance and fired the ball into the bottom corner.

The ever impressive Lewis Day then found Whalley who swept the ball home with a lovely finish, Day himself then got a deserved goal when Miller fired in a low cross and Day converted into the roof of the net.

Parsons scored his second when he beat the last defender and slotted the ball through the keeper's legs to conclude a superb ten minutes spell for the home side. Man of the match for Oke was Rob Hall.
