IN division one of the Okehampton and district Table Tennis League Okehampton A were at home to Horrabridge A.
John Squire lost to John Stewart and Steve Madge lost to Chloe Greenaway to put Horrabridge 2-0 up. Karen Stephenson pulled one back against Brendon Seward; John Stewart won his second against Steve Madge and completed his maximum against Karen with the score at 4-4. Chloe just managed to win her last singles and joined John in the doubles against John and Karen to win the match 6-4.
Okehampton C played North Wyke in a hard fought match which finished 5-5 - thanks to a fine maximum for Steve Granger. Enrique Cancer Berroya won two singles as did Emily Haskill, while Josh Parsons and Cameron Brooking one game each. Josh and Cameron beat Steve and Enrique in the doubles for a draw.
Horrabridge A played North Wyke with John Stewart and Chloe Greenaway both scoring maximums. Chloe had to pull out all the stops in her second singles, just beating Enrique in the fifth. Jill Whitley and Steve Granger won one singles each; John and Chloe beat Steve and Enrique in the doubles for a 7-3 win for Horrabridge A.
In division two Horrabridge B played league leaders Anchorage A, who go marching on with another 10-0 win to put them 28 points ahead of second place Anchorage B, with one game to play.
Okehampton D played Gunnislake the former racing into a 4-0 lead before Mike Kinger saved the whitewash beating Frank Cockburn in the third set. Okehampton won the next four singles — Luke Bennett and Mari Baldwin both scored maximums; Frank and Luke beat Michael and Jack Flockton in the doubles for a 9-1 win.
Moretonhampstead went into a 2-0 lead against Gunnislake. Ken Underhill beat Michael Kinger and David May beat Michael Alexander. Jack Flockton pulled one back beating Richard Underhill. David May won his second 11-9 in the fifth set against Michael Kinger and went on to complete a fine maximum. Jack Flockton won the next beating Ken, who could not handle his fine attacking shots with the score 5-4 to Moreton. Jack and Michael Kinger won the doubles against Ken and David for a 5-5 draw.
