Bodmin 1
Okehampton seconds 2
OKEHAMPTON men’s second team were away on Saturday to Bodmin.
The visitors headed into this game in positive frame of mind, knowing that they were above Bodmin in the league table.
Both teams made a strong start where Okehampton were unfortunate to concede a short corner not long after the start from which Bodmin converted for the opening goal of the match.
With heads held high, Okehampton got back onto the attack and kept pushing and it was not long before Chris Luxton scrambled the ball into the back of the goal for the equaliser.
Oke were back in the game with strong play continuing from both sides. Passing the ball around and nearing the half-time mark, the seconds won themselves a short corner. With a swift pass from Toby Lloyd to Luxton, Luxton hit the ball which rebounded off of the Bodmin keeper, falling for Stuart Jarvis to slot neatly home.
Further great team play saw Okehampton hold the lead in the second half. Although Bodmin had a handful of opportunities to draw level through short corners, they could not squeeze the ball past the visiting back four — nor the padded Ebby Valance.
With the full 70 minutes up, Okehampton took home the 2-1 win with Toby Lloyd man of the match.
