OKEHAMPTON Running Club members were out in force at the First Chance 10k hosted by South West Road Runners in Exeter.

Matt Pitson was the first from the club to finish. He stormed round the fast, flat course, narrowly missing breaking the club record for this distance.

First ORC lady home was Marilyn Cooper who won the FV60 age group category. This race is a happy hunting ground for Marilyn who has now run the First Chance five times, each time winning her age group prize.

Personal bests were achieved by Stuart May, Mike Baker, Mike Westland, Abby Metherell, Jackie Dawes, and Tracey Mills.

Special mention goes to Jane Richardson, who, at a mere 65 years of age, was running in her first 10k race; and to Ruth Bushell, Lucy Brint and Jo Bradford who were all taking part in their first race.
