IN division one of the Okehampton and district table tennis league North Wyke were home to league leaders Tavistock, who proved too strong and ran out 10-0 winners.

North Wyke played away to Okehampton B. Enrique Cancer Baroca beat Sarah Jackson in five sets and Zoe Bennett did well to beat Tom Misselbrook, also in five, to level. Roni Gillardo put Oke B ahead beating Stewart Granger in straight sets then North Wyke stepped up a gear winning the next six singles and the doubles for an 8-2 win.

Okehampton C were home to Horrabridge A. John Stewart put the visitors ahead beating Josh Parsons in five sets; Emily Haskell won the next against Brendon Stewart, while Edward Haskell, playing his first match, beat Bob Newcombe. John beat Emily 15-13 in the fourth to leave the match at 2-2.

Okehampton C won the next five singles and the doubles for a 8-2 victory with Edward scoring a fine maximum.

In division two Anchorage A go marching on after their latest 9-1 away win at Gunnislake, winning all the singles; however, Gunnislake won the doubles in a hard fought game — Michael Kinger and Jack Flockton beating Malcolm Hopkins and Colin Jones in five sets.

Horrabridge A were home to Anchorage B, who won the first two singles. David Wilson beat Sue Brokchley and Roger Gilbert beat Lesley Coleman; Jill Northey pulled one back for Horrabridge beating Jenny Gilbert, who played her first match of the season.

Anchorage B then won the last six singles and doubles for a 9-1 win to keep them in second place in the league. David and Roger both scored maximums.

Two young teams, Okehampton D and E, played each other with the former coming out on top, winning all the games for a convincing 10-0 win.

For the D side were Luke Bennett, Frank Cockburn and Mari Baldwin; on the E side, Eli Holt, Tom Madge and Connor Madge.

Moretonhampstead played Okehampton D with Luke Bennett winning the first against Ken Underhill. David May beat Frank Cockburn to level before Mari Baldwin beat Richard Underhill only for David to beat Luke to make it 2-2. Okehampton D then won the next five singles to lead 7-2. Mari scored a fine maximum. Moreton had the last say winning the doubles when Ken and David beat Luke and Mari for a 7-3 win for Okehampton.
