OKEHAMPTON Hockey Club travelled to Dawlish on Sunday with two teams to play in the next round of the Devon U14s tournament.
Oke B team had two hard fixtures - the first against a strong ISCA A team but Oke prevented the Exeter side from controlling the game with constant pressure from the half line of Emilia Bazeley, Ellie Shayler and Molly Phillpot-minors.
Defenders Zoe Curtis and captain Sophie Mugliston made some crucial tackles and clearances but the Oke goalie had a superb game blocking several shots from the ISCA attackers and clearing the ball with powerful kicks.
Oke attackers Grace James and Charlie Reynolds dropped back to help their team and made some penetrating runs but ISCA won the game by two goals.
Oke B's second game was against Teign who took Oke by surprise and scored three goals in the first half. This was a game of two very different halves as Oke had saved their best hockey for the second half. They piled on the pressure passing the ball quickly and accurately and were unlucky not to score.
The Oke A team had an evenly matched game against ISCA B. Molly Marvin and Annie Strawbridge had to work hard in midfield to soak up the ISCA pressure.
Emily Rowlands and Livy Rubbra seized every opportunity to attack the ISCA goal and were rewarded with a goal each.
Despite tight marking and quick interceptions from Oke defenders Elsa Frangleton and Molly Cooper ISCA managed to score giving Oke a 2-1 win.
Oke A's final game against White Eagles saw them in a dominant mood. Maddie Arden's speed and nifty stickwork were rewarded with an Oke goal. Livy Rubbra scored another two goals and Emily Rowlands put in a hat-trick.
Oke goalie Daisy Morgan worked hard to keep a clean sheet for her team resulting in a 6-0 win.
