CHAGFORD notched their second win on the trot but Axminster made them work hard for the points. Josh Stanbury bagged another double for Chagford, the first after ten minutes as he responded first to a rebound from a Emanuel shot.

Whitehouse equalised for the visitors after a 30th minute corner was not cleared and he stabbed home the loose ball. Stanbury scored his second eight minutes later, outpacing the keeper to a forward pass and slotting the ball into a gaping net. Right on half-time, Ashley Jackson rose to meet a home corner and powered home his first goal for Chagford.

The hosts started the second half the slower of the two and it was 20 minutes before Ollie Squire's stunning run and shot finally killed off Town's stubbornness. Will Hutchison's goal with just a couple minutes left was the icing on the cake but well taken.

n Chagford are home to Buckfastleigh Rangers on Saturday in round two of the DCFA Senior Cup, kick-off 2pm.

JAKE Rowe's late equalising goal earned Chagford Reserves a deserved point from their trip to Exeter. Pinhoe had taken the lead early on but Chagford raised their game and clawed their way back into a closely fought contest.
