CREDITON progressed to the next round of the Devon Senior cup in a tight game that went into 30 minutes of extra time to get a result.

Crediton took the lead after 20 minutes but just before half time Zeal equalised when an Eddie Brown throw-in was flicked on by Harley Cann for Scott Hooper to score from close range. In the second half both teams had chances to win the game as Reg Wonnacott saved a penalty to deny Crediton and Graham Soby and Harley Cann went close for Zeal.

Crediton scored ten minutes into the first period of extra time after a Zeal attack nearly produced a goal but the vistors broke and one of their strikers hit the net from 15 yards. Zeal pushed on in the second half of extra time in an effort to get the equaliser but Crediton made the game safe when a long range shot deflected off Lee Gilbert into the roof of the Zeal net.

Next week Zeal are at home to Offwell, KO 3pm.
