IN division one of Okehampton and District Table Tennis League, Academy played Tavistock whose Jon Cheung scored another fine maximum with Roger Bowkett and Peter Hicks winning two singles each. Peter and Roger won the doubles in five legs for a 7-3 win for Tavistock. Tom Pearce won two singles and Ben Hill one.

The next match Academy found it another tough game against Okehampton A who raced into a 5-0 lead before Tom Pearce won against John Squire with Ben Hill also beating John. Steve Tyler and John Down had hard fought maximums. Steve and John Squire won the doubles against Tom Pearce and Ben Hill 16-14 in the fourth leg for a 8-2 win for Okehampton A to keep them in second place in the league table six points behind Tavistock who have played one game more.

In division two North Wyke played Okehampton C. North Wyke went 1-0 ahead. Enrique Cancer Barroya beat Richard Rose before Ben Bolton levelled at 1-1 in a hard fought 3-2.

Jill Whiteley did well to beat Frank Cockburn 3-2. Frank also had to fight hard to beat Enrique 3-2 to take the match 6-4.

In the next match Moretonhampstead took on league leaders. Roger Gilbert was the star for Anchorage winning his singles and joined David Wilson in the doubles for a convincing 8-2 win. Brian Skilton did well for Moretonhampstead, beating Dave Wilson and Dave Vanstone. Ken Underhill was outclassed losing all three singles. Although he did take Roger to five legs, Roger won 3-2 to keep Anchorage on top of the league table.
