JUST before the start of the Plymouth Harriers' Six Moor Miles race near Yeleverton, there was a torrential downpour that sent the runners scurrying for any shelter they could find.
The starter had a job to get everyone out and on to the start line to get the race underway.
However, the rain soon stopped, the race taking place in pleasant dry but breezy conditions and with good encouragement from the plentiful marshals.
Nick Seccombe was the first Okehampton Running Club member home in 46 minutes 36 seconds.
Then came Detlef Scheonfeld 51.34 and Jane Jackson 55.27 (second female veteran 55).
