TAVISTOCK Squash Club held an all comers racketball competition at the club in Pixon Lane, Tavistock.
The players were of mixed ability and were grouped into three teams to balance skills and sharpen competition. Each player was assured close games against other of similar ability.
It was close in the end with the final score hanging on the outcome of the very last game between Nick Seal and Richard Davies. Simon Powell and Richard’s team won through to claim the competition but with only an eight point lead on the other teams.
Racketball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, and new players, including complete beginners, are welcome to go along to the club and try it out at one of the club nights which occur every Monday between 6pm and 7.30pm.
As racketball is growing in popularity, though relatively new around the rest of the world, the World Squash Federation has decided to change the name of the game to Squash 57 to avoid confusion with North American game of racquetball.
