Okehampton A 2
E C Hornets C 1
ON a beautiful sunny afternoon Okehampton, took the game to Hornets from the first whistle.
Good support play by Oke's Jake Lloyd found Chris Luxton, whose early shot hit the post and was cleared away. Hornets clearly rattled by the Okehampton forward line pushed hard and took the lead after the ball had hit John Jarvis's foot and stand in keeper Rowan Perrior failed to clear.
Captain Brett Lawson changed the formation at half time and this was the catalyst to a great fight back. Stuart Jarvis was industrious down the right wing and his cross was touched back across the goal by Brett Lawson, who beat the stranded keeper to make it 1-1.
Okehampton were now playing with great confidence and another move down the right found Chris Luxton who beat his marker and the keeper with a clever chip only for an Hornets defender to clear the ball at head height off the line.
Soon after a pass to the top of the D by Mark Bingham again found Luxton who spun his marker, drew the keeper and slotted the ball home to make it 2-1.
Okehampton were now swarming all over the Hornets goal with Alex's Emuss coming close. Hornets did threaten Oke's defence but Mark Bingham dived to the floor to clear the ball. Oke clearly had the sting in their tails. Dan Rademaker sweet strike just failed to add to the score.
