Petroc two

Okehampton ladies’ seconds 2

Dawlish ladies’ thirds 3

WITH unbeaten Okehampton seconds still top of the league the pressure was on for another win; however, missing a couple key players Oke knew they had to work hard on a damp and windy day.

Oke started with grit and determination pushing towards the Dawlish defence. Piling on the pressure, wingers Sophia Marshall and Zoe Curtis kept the width and shape on the pitch, which created space for Elsa Frangleton and Lucy Wiseman to work the ball for endless shots on goal.

After a short corner was awarded a quick injected ball from Nicola Bennie to Alex Collins, who took a one touch, hit a hard shot at goal; it was saved but with Nicola waiting for the rebound, she lifted the ball over the goalie and into the back of the net. This gave Oke the energy to go for it again. Debbie Pritchard found a gap in the Dawlish midfield to find Collins who quickly turned the ball on to Wiseman waiting at the top of the D passed to Anna Speak who smashed it against the back board.

Unfortunately for the home side, Dawlish came back fighting and despite great saves by player of the match Daisy Morgan, Dawlish managed to have a scramble over the line and a couple quick breaks for the whistle to win the game 2-3.
