Devon and Exeter three

North Tawton 1

A SPIRITED performance by North Tawton could not stop South Zeal from going unbeaten in their first five league games on Saturday. The home side took the lead after 15 minutes when Harley Cann put Scott Hooper through and he finished well from close range.

Zeal went two up 15 minutes later when Ricky Drew played Darren Gilbert through and he drew the keeper and placed a lovely shot into the far corner.

The visitors were always dangerous on the counter attack but 10 minutes into the second half Harley Cann was put through and brought down in the penalty area. Nick Pollard converted the resulting penalty to put Zeal 3-0 up. Phil Evans made it 4-0 with a close range header and North Tawton replied to make the score 4-1 with a superb header at the far post.

Pushing on for more goals Nick Pollard converted another penalty and the best goal of the game came when Ricky Wooldridge with his back to goal flicked the ball over himself and a defender and scored from close range for Zeal's sixth goal of the game.
