THE Dartmoor Radio Sailing Club hosted the South West Area’s International one metre event at Shaugh Lakes near Cadover Bridge on Sunday.

Participants enjoyed a warm sunny day, commencing with light breezes from the West, which later developed into a stronger breeze; later in the day this abruptly swung to a northerly direction, which called for a total realigning of the course markers keeping the dinghy crew busy.

Skippers from several South West region clubs came to compete, with West Cornwall  (WC), Woodspring (W), Sedgemoor (S), Bideford (B), and Poole (P),  being represented, as well as Dartmoor members.

The event was won by Barry Chisam, ( WC) sailing an ASBO 2; second was Jerry Lock (DRSC) sailing an Aqua; third was Dave Kent (DRSC) sailing a Britpop, and fourth was Bob Connor(W) also sailing a Britpop.

All the boats conform tightly to the rules governing the class, despite there being numerous designs.
