The A377 road between Crediton and Copplestone has been closed to traffic due to what is believed to be an incident in which a tree has landed on a car.
The incident has occurred at Spencecombe bends at about 11am on Wednesday, April 12.
Emergency services, including a fire engine, ambulance, paramedics and police are currently at the scene.
Minor roads in the area are gridlocked.
Motorists are advised to seek an alternative route.
