BURGLARIES, dog attacks and petrol theft feature in this week’s #Newsfromtheblues crime page for Okehampton.
• Power tools worth £1,200 were stolen from a white Peugeot car, parked secure and unattended on Castle Road, Okehampton, between 7pm on October 17 and 8.30am on October 18. No obvious damage was caused to the vehicle. CR/090204/17.
• Police are appealing for any information following two burglaries in Exbourne, which they believe are connected. The first crime saw a garage at a farm property in Exbourne entered through an unlocked UPVC door between 8pm on October 12 and 9.55am on October 13. An air rifle and a Santa Cruz mountain bike were stolen. CR/088587/17. The second incident saw access gained to a garage through the rear garden of a cottage in Exbourne between 10.30pm on October 12 and 3pm on October 13. It is unknown what was stolen. CR/088641/17.
• Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident of a dog attack at Passaford Lane, Hatherleigh, on October 17 at 10am. A woman was exercising her Jack Russell Terrier Cross, with her 17-month-old grandson, when a Staffordshire Bull Terrier ran across the river towards the family. It was reported that the Jack Russell tried to ‘protect the family’ which resulted in the Staffordshire Bull Terrier grabbing the Jack Russell’s head, and would not let go. The dog only let go of the Jack Russell’s head when intervened by the family. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information. CR/090518/17.
• The driver of a silver VW Toran drove off without paying for petrol at White House Services on Exeter Road, Okehampton, on October 16 at 4.12am. The vehicle had false plates attached. CR/089595/17.
• A woman reported to have dropped £80 from her coat pocket in Lidl, School Way, Okehampton between 7.05pm and 7.15pm on October 13. CR/088912/17.
• Vehicle batteries were stolen from Okehampton Recycling Centre between 4.45pm on October 18 and 8.10am on October 19. CR/090538/17.
